Javier Hernandez - Man United's forgotten man

Javier Hernandez - Man United's Forgotten man

Admit it, you were just as surprised when you heard that Real Madrid have approached Manchester Untied in order to bring Javier Hernandez to the Bernabeu on loan, then have the option to make it permanent in the summer.

Why would such a rich club like Real Madrid bring in a striker that for the majority of the past 2 -3 seasons has warmed the bench? The answer is simple really, they've seen what Hernandez is capable off and were wondering if he could do it in La Liga.

Ever since he joined United in 2010 and had such an explosive first season, I always said Madrid would come in for him. In all honestly I expected him to leave. However they never did come in for him until this past summer. I honestly think that if Hernandez did get the first team football that he wanted, he would have been at the Bernabeu a long time ago. His statistics for Man United were beyond amazing, he managed to score 37 goals in 53 League appearances.

So why did he slip down the ranks at Man United? Well if we look at United's line up vs Barcelona in the 2011 Champions league final, United's strike force was Rooney and Hernandez, Which was incredibly weaker than Barcelona's which was Pedro, Messi and Villa. I always thought that the Rooney/Hernandez strike force was great for the premier league but too weak for the Champions League. Eventually United looked to strengthen their attack and they did this by including Danny Welbeck and signing Robin Van Persie. Because of their performances Hernandez was dropped. And eventually over time he was forgotten about.

Whilst watching the Man United and Arsenal game last week I couldn't help but wonder that If Heranadez was still at United and they brought him on, he would have scored. Because thats the type of player he is, a poacher, a super sub. Since he's been at Madrid he hasn't really made a big impact. So what has to happen for him to resurrect his career? The answer is simple, move to a club that is willing to play him every week. For example, West Ham would be a perfect fit for him. He would get first team football and with no doubt he would score plenty of goals.

However he could come back to United. I doubt Madrid would make the loan move permanent, a bit like how United won't make Falcao's move permanent. With Falcao going back, Van Persie out of contract and Rooney being the only in form striker, this is the perfect time for Hernandez to come back and re start his Old Trafford Career.
